I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but I think it pays to have a light on your Home Defense gun.

Come on the vector for a new shooter home defense really. That's not realistic for a new shooter, they have to apply for a SBR permit. How long does that take? How about a single shot shotgun for $100.00 or less at Walmart  seems more realistic to me. I guess I have no problem with your other choices.

I hit the like button on this video. I totally LOLed at the Kriss as a home defense gun. Not that I disagree with it or anything. It's just that most people won't have the money or time for such an NFA item, assuming it is even legal in their state.

IMO, the Glock 19 was your best suggestion. As far as shotguns go, Federal does make a tactical load that is low recoil for a 12 gauge. My first choice would be an M4 style AR-15 with 16" barrel and red dot sight. If you don't like turning on the lights, you can get a float tube with rails for a flashlight. M193 does tend to start fragmenting after a certain number of walls. Or you could go with VMAX style bullets or frangible ammo.
